Floquet Majorana bound states in voltage-biased planar Josephson junctions

نویسندگان

چکیده

We study a planar Josephson junction under an applied DC voltage bias in the presence of in-plane magnetic field. Upon tuning across junction, $V_{{\rm J}}$, two ends are shown to simultaneously host both $0$- and $\pi$-Majorana modes. These modes can be probed using either Scanning-Tunneling-Microscopy measurement or through resonant Andreev tunneling from lead coupled junction. While these mostly bound junction's ends, they hybridize with bulk by absorbing emitting photons. analyze this process numerically analytically, demonstrating that it become negligible typical experimental conditions. Transport signatures states robust moderate disorder.

Unconventional Josephson signatures of Majorana bound states.

A junction between two topological superconductors containing a pair of Majorana fermions exhibits a "fractional" Josephson effect, 4π periodic in the superconductors' phase difference. An additional fractional Josephson effect, however, arises when the Majorana fermions are spatially separated by a superconducting barrier. This new term gives rise to a set of Shapiro steps which are essentiall...

Observing Majorana bound states of Josephson vortices in topological superconductors.

In recent years there has been an intensive search for Majorana fermion states in condensed matter systems. Predicted to be localized on cores of vortices in certain nonconventional superconductors, their presence is known to render the exchange statistics of bulk vortices non-abelian. Here we study the equations governing the dynamics of phase solitons (fluxons) in a Josephson junction in a to...
